The Early Childhood Association of Florida is the largest organization for
early childhood professionals in the state of Florida. We have 3500 members
who serve in all levels of early childhood education, working directly with
thousands of families with children birth to age eight, as well as at the
high school and college level training teachers. They teach in approximately
525 publicly funded programs; 450 private, nonprofit schools; 400 private,
for profit child care centers and family child care homes and 15 corporate
on-site child care centers. We are a strong group and have a voice: putting
children first.
The Early Childhood Association of Florida has 15 Affiliate
Chapters and 11 Community-at-Large State Chapters. They provide programming
at the local level for their members. Our
state organization has an annual fall conference in Orlando with over 2000
in attendance. We publish a journal, Children Our Concern, and
a newsletter, ECA of FLORIDA FACTS. We have brochures on timely topics such
as Single Parenting... a brochure for Divorced and Widowed Parents;
Reading From the Beginning: Young Children, Language and Books;
Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum for Young Children Ages 2-5
as well as a Public Policy Platform. Our newest brochure is Programs for
Infants and Toddlers. Click here to see all the
brochures we offer.
As an affiliate of both the National Association for the Education of
Young Children (NAEYC) and the Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA),
we keep our members informed of current issues in the early childhood field.
Our state is divided into four regions, each with a representative who
serves on the Board of Directors. The Board meets with affiliate leaders in
each region and offers leadership training. Our Executive Director runs the
office and supports the work of the Board of Directors in advocacy, public
relations, membership and affiliate services.
